BYD partners with Huawei for cutting-edge autonomous off-road EV

Huawei recently stated that it has agreed on a deal with BYD, the largest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer in China, to utilize the latter’s cutting-edge autonomous driving technology in its off-road Fangchengbao EVs. Later this year, the Fangchengbao lineup’s Bao 8 SUV—the first BYD vehicle to feature Huawei’s Qiankun intelligent driving system—will go on sale.

The partnership is a continuation of BYD’s efforts to shift upmarket in order to boost sales of its premium brands, Denza, Fangchengbao, and Yangwang, and boost profitability. Data from the source shows that in the first half, the three brands only made up 5% of the overall sales.

The Chinese electric vehicle champion is under pressure to catch up to competitors by enhancing smart driving configuration through internal research, and this is evident through the use of Huawei technology.

Because it manufactures essential parts like batteries in-house, a tactic known as “vertical integration,” BYD has dominated the EV industry at a substantial cost advantage. Since last year, the business has hired hundreds of engineers in an effort to devote significant resources to the development of its own advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS). For such sophisticated technologies in premium models—such as Momenta ADAS in its Denza automobiles it still depends on outside vendors.

The collaboration with Huawei also represented the Chinese tech giant’s expanding role as a leading ADAS supplier in the EV market. For the Chinese market, Volkswagen’s Audi EVs will also employ Huawei’s ADAS.

Technological innovation changing automotive industry

Every industry is transforming in its own way with the integration of technology and rising innovations. Automotive industry has also changed drastically with the leverage of rising technological revolution. The shift towards advanced vehicles is representing the changing perception of consumers.

Electric vehicles perform better than conventional automobiles in a number of ways, including better fuel efficiency, less carbon emissions and upkeep, easier at-home charging, smoother driving, and quieter engines. Electricity is provided via charging equipment to replenish EV batteries. Electric vehicle supply equipment is used to provide power to an electric vehicle. Proactive government initiatives and technology breakthroughs in electric vehicles are anticipated to generate many potential prospects for the global EV market. As per the VMR’s latest study, the market will reach 830.03 billion by 2030 at a CAGR of 16.12%.

Autonomous technology is also gaining high traction in the global industry as consumers are now demanding advanced vehicles. Technology that is able to carry out operations or activities without direct human involvement is referred to as autonomous technology. Many various fields and industries use autonomous technology. Automobiles, trucks, and drones that operate on autonomous systems have the potential to completely transform transportation by increasing efficiency, decreasing traffic, and promoting safety. Several driving forces that are globally transforming businesses and consumer experiences are driving the global autonomous technology market. Developments in machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) are key factors. Autonomous systems may boost overall productivity, optimize routes, and increase operational safety by utilizing sensors, cameras, and other cutting-edge technologies.

Unquestionably leading the autonomous vehicle technology market, autonomous vehicles are bringing about a radical change in the transportation and automotive sectors. In order to function autonomously, autonomous vehicles (AVs) make use of cutting-edge technology including artificial intelligence, machine learning, sensors, and communication. VMR found that the global autonomous technology market will touch USD 71.13 billion by 2031 along with the CAGR of 12.38%.

Self-driving and ADAS features creating buzz amongst consumers

Autonomous vehicles, sometimes referred to as self-driving vehicles, are outfitted with cutting-edge technology like radar, cameras, sensors, and artificial intelligence algorithms, which enable them to navigate and function independently of human interaction.

These vehicles are able to perceive their environment, process sensory data, and make decisions on their own to safely traverse roads and get to their destinations. Numerous industries, including logistics, distribution, transportation, and even daily commuting, can benefit from autonomous vehicles.

Because AI, machine learning, and sensor technologies are always developing, the global autonomous vehicles market has been greatly boosted. These innovations improve the safety and dependability of autonomous cars by enabling them to glide through challenging conditions. VMR’s research highlights that the global market is anticipated to reach USD 2432273.61 Million by 2031, at a CAGR of 37.61%

ADAS uses a variety of sensors, cameras, and radar systems to keep an eye on the environment around the car and identify any possible threats, such as other cars, pedestrians, bicycles, and roadblocks. Automatic emergency braking is one of the characteristics of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). If the system senses an impending collision with another vehicle or object, it can apply the brakes to prevent or lessen the impact of the crash.

As customers prioritize convenience and safety more, there is a growing demand for ADAS technology such as lane departure warning systems and automated emergency braking. According to VMR’s global advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) market report , the market will touch USD 73.74 billion by 2031 increasing at a CAGR of 10.80%.

VMR’s viewpoint

The automotive industry is witnessing a significant rise in the adoption of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), electric vehicles (EVs), and autonomous technology. This shift is driven by increasing consumer demand for safety, sustainability, and convenience. Innovations in AI, ML and battery technology are enhancing these features, transforming mobility and shaping the future of driving.
