LOCA Expands its EV Fleet and Charging Network

LOCA has secured significant investment from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This funding will enhance LOCA’s ‘Go-Green’ electric vehicle (EV) initiatives, including an expansion of its EV fleet and charging infrastructure across Laos.

Since its inception in 2018 LOCA has shown remarkable growth and is promoting electric mobility to the hilt. In 2021 Loca launched with 40 EVs  and now boasts of a fleet of 600 EVs among its 1,000 cars. By 2030 Loca plans full transition to electric vehicles and to phase out ICE vehicles by 2025.

Loca’s Future Prospects

Loca App knows that the route to success is not just increasing its fleet but also to ensure the charging infrastructure is in place to ensure success. Loca plans to add a further 40 charging stations by the end of this year. As of now they are operating with 24 EV charging stations. In this endeavour LOCA aims to support the growing number of EV users in Laos, which is currently seeing an addition 500 new EVs on a monthly basis.

The new funding that Loca has secured emboldens Souliyo Vongdala, Co-founder and CEO of LOCA, that their efforts to establish a sustainable transportation network in Laos has received a huge boost. Phonepasong Mixab, Co-founder and Co-CEO, stressed the importance of expanding their charging infrastructure with the aim to support EV drivers effectively.
